Projects
Here at Downland Engineering we pride ourselves on offering our services to design and manufacture various abrasive machinery to suit some of the more unusual requirements, often where a bigger manufacturer would find it less than financially viable.
Print Roller
Print roller stripping and surface preparation, A machine designed to recondition the surface of print rollers prior to them being recovered, machine mounts to the cross slide of a large lathe and can be moved along the length of the roller, the weight of the machine is sufficient force to ensure the correct level of abrasion.
Mini Belt
Mini belt machine, using a 10 mm wide x 800 mm long belt this was designed to complete a particular process on Omega watch cases.
Bespoke Abrasion
Possibly one of the most diverse projects to date, an enquiry from a customer that required insulation tape called Kapton abraded on one side prior to being glued in position, we designed and made a machine that would process a 100 meter reel of Kapton in a couple of minutes by passing the material over a rotating belt.
Crankshaft Polishing
Crankshaft polishing, the customer required a bespoke machine that was easy to use with minimum user effort, the design used a rail mounted at the rear of the machine so the machine could simply be lifted up and moved the to next journal.
Diamond Wire Saw
Diamond wire saw, uses an 840 x .04 mm diamond coated wire loop running on custom made 100 mm diameter rollers, ¼ Hp variable speed gravity feed for cutting geological specimen slices with a gravity feed and water cooling, foam filled catch tank with recirculating water supply.
Prototype
A small prototype rubber covered small wheel 16 mm diameter 25 mm long for a specialist machine running 25 mm wide belts.
